Leadership

Run by the people who built it.

Northern Lights Medical is owner-operated by its executive team. When your facility calls, you reach a decision-maker — not an account team.

Executive Team

Three chiefs. One standard.

Dan Borud, RN
Chief Executive Officer

Founder and CEO. A clinician first, Dan built the clinical model Northern Lights Medical runs on and has led the company through more than a decade of continuous hospital service. The placement standard — every line imaging-confirmed — is his.

Jerry Thorson, RN
Chief Clinical Officer

Jerry leads day-to-day clinical operations and places lines himself — the standard is enforced at the bedside, not from a desk. He heads the company's Upper Midwest field operation, carrying the proven Indianapolis model into North Dakota and Minnesota.

Michael Gaff
Chief Operating Officer

Mike runs the business — contracting, credentialing, billing, finance, and the quality reporting that keeps the malposition record where it is. He is the operational point of contact for facility partnerships.

How we operate

Small by design. Accountable by default.

A deliberately lean structure is part of the quality model: short lines of communication, principals who review the numbers personally, and no layer between your facility and the people responsible.

Direct access to principals — contracting, escalations, and quality reviews are handled by the owners.
Clinician-first hiring — inserters are selected for judgment and volume of experience, then held to the imaging-confirmation standard on every line.
Skin in the game — owner-operated since 2015. Our name is on every placement.

Talk directly with the principals.

No discovery-call gauntlet. Email or call and you'll reach us.
